Buy America Information

All items with a cost of $5,000 or more must comply with the Buy America Act, 23 U.S.C . ₴ 313. A public interest waiver was put in place nationwide to allow items costing less than $5,000 to be exempt from the BAA. The effective date for this waiver is July 30, 2015. Moving forward, all purchases of items costing less than $5,000 will not require BAA documentation to be filed with the claim. 

All other processes for purchasing items remain the same: the items must be in the approved grant budget, the items must be allowable according to THSO/NHTSA policy, and the items must be allowable according to the funding source. Additionally, all equipment items with a cost of $5,000 or more must have written approval from NHTSA prior to the equipment purchase.
