Officer Spanish Survival and Communication - Enhanced

Prerequisite: Students must have attended the Officer Spanish Survival and Communication (Basic); or have attended two semesters of college level Spanish.

This forty-hour intensive program is designed to prepare officers for either college level Spanish or to attend the Partners in Training 100-hour intensive Immersion Program. This program will consist of explaining Spanish language concepts and then following the concepts up with intensive drilling. Terms used in the criminal justice setting will be the focus.

 
Contents of the program:
  1. Alphabet and phonetics review
  2. Forming and working with the imperative tense; present tense and the future tense using the concept of “ir a” plus the infinitive
  3. Intensive drilling of the above mentioned concepts
  4. Arrest expressions and practical exercises
  5. DUI SFST and performance practical exercises
  6. Completing accident and incident reports in a practical exercise setting
  7. Cultural information and interviewing techniques review
Who should attend: Those officers who express a desire to continue studying Spanish in the law enforcement circles and/or wish to review their Spanish language skills.
