Car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for young people in the United States. Yet, these horrific events are no accident- they are preventable. SADD believes that teen deaths and injuries due to traffic collisions can be eliminated through a strong combination of education and enforcement. Thus, SADD works to train law enforcement, health care professionals, educators, teens, and other interested parties to use materials and programs that use “Counter Measures that Work” to alter teen behavior behind the wheel. This session will empower participants with the skills and resources needed to implement best practices and programs in their communities and schools that are shown to do just that. Specifically, participants will be trained in the Impact Teen Driver program, “What Do You Consider Lethal.” In addition, those in attendance will receive basic training in action planning and teen engagement, which are critical to engage teens in this life-saving conversation.
