Governor’s Highway Safety Office Announces

“Click It or Ticket” Enforcement Mobilization Effort

 

Hendersonville, Tenn.—Kendell Poole, Director of the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office, will join John Schroer, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Transportation and members of the Hendersonville Police Department as well as the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office to announce the “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign.   The event will take place Thursday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Hendersonville.

                       

  • Nationally, in 2012 seat belts saved an estimated 12,174 people from dying. From 2008 – 2012 seat belts saved nearly 63,000 lives.
  • In 2012, 3,031 additional lives could have been saved if all unrestrained passenger vehicle occupants 5 and older involved in fatal crashes had worn their seat belts.
  • In 2013, Tennessee experienced a loss of 363 lives due to unrestrained traffic crashes. To date, 128 fatalities have occurred due to non-seatbelt usage.

 

The “Click It or Ticket” National Enforcement Mobilization efforts take place May 19th- June 1st.  Law Enforcement agencies across the state are teaming up to save more lives on Tennessee roadways.  The Governor’s Highway Safety Office urges all motorists to make the choice to buckle up and ARRIVE at your destination safely.
