Governor’s Highway Safety Office Joins East Tennessee
Law Enforcement to Launch Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign
 
Bean Station, Tenn. – Kendell Poole, Director of the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office, will join members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol and law enforcement agencies in Grainger and Hawkins Counties to announce increased seat belt and impaired driving enforcement during the upcoming holiday season. The event will take place Monday, November 17th at 1:30 p.m. at the Bean Station Police Department.
 
Both Grainger and Hawkins Counties have seen a dramatic increase in traffic crash fatalities during 2014. Hawkins County has one of the highest year-to-date difference in fatalities of any county in Tennessee. In an effort to prevent additional fatalities and injuries, local law enforcement agencies will be increasing enforcement and conducting sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols.
