This co urse is designed to assist law enforcement in scre ening and identifying medical impairments at the r oadside. This education could be applied during a routine traffic stop\, traffic accident investiga tion\, or while observing driving behaviors. An o bjective screening tool will be discussed to asses s a potentially cognitively impaired driver. Nume rous diagnoses such as dementia\, stroke\, etc wil l be discussed in regards to common presentations at the roadside. If impairment is noted\, the pro cess of reporting a potentially impaired driver to TN Department of Driver Improvement will be discu ssed as well as case examples presented. The cour se will also include education in basic adaptive d riving equipment as well as community resources th at can assist with alternate transportation if nee ded. Finally\, participants will be provided reso urces of medical professionals in their respective regions of Tennessee that can clinically assess p otentially medically impaired drivers.
