 ass that  allows the certified and/or non certifie
 d Drug Recognition Expert to obtain their inservic
 e in accordance with the IACP Standard. DRE’s that
  have not received an instructor evaluation will b
 e able to obtain their instructor check off on thi
 s date.  If the DRE needs to obtain evals\, there 
 will be opportunities here and live evals can be s
 cheduled that will be held at a later date.  If th
 e DRE is more than one year and less than five and
  wants to obtain their certification\, this is als
 o the first step for that process.  You can check 
 with the DRE state Coordinator for you date of las
 t eval/inservice/expiration date as well. The inse
 rvice will be held state wide on weekdays and week
 ends to assist the departments in sending as many 
 was they can.</p><p>As specified in section III of
  the International Standards of the Drug Evaluatio
 n and Classification Program all drug recognition 
 experts must be recertified every two years follow
 ing original certification.</p><p>A DRE shall demo
 nstrate continuing proficiency by:</p><p>(1) Perfo
 rming a minimum of four (4) acceptable evaluations
  since the date of last certification all of which
  shall be reviewed and approved by a certified DRE
  instructor and one (1) of which shall be witnesse
 d by a certified DRE instructor. These evaluations
  may be performed on subjects suspected of drug an
 d/or alcohol impairment or during classroom simula
 tions\; and</p><p>(2) Completing a minimum of eigh
 t hours of IACP recertification training since the
  date of the DRE’s most recent certification which
  may alternatively be presented in two sessions of
  no less than four hours and which shall be consis
 tent with any IACP standards for such training\; a
 nd</p><p>(3) Presenting an updated resume and roll
 ing log to the agency coordinator or his designee 
 for review.</p><p>A certified DRE instructor shall
  maintain instructor certification so long as DRE 
 certification is maintained. This recertification 
 will be valid for two years from the DRE’s last ex
 piration date.</p><p>PLEASE NOTE: According to the
  revised Standards if you choose to grant a one-ye
 ar extension (formerly the “grace period”) the DRE
  will be allowed up to a year to complete recertif
 ication but the status of the DRE’s certification 
 will NOT be active.</p></body></html>
