CPST Certification Course - HYBRID format

This course is the hybrid delivery option of the National Child Passenger Safety Course and is not POST-approved at this time. The five-week format combines self-paced online modules, independent hands-on practice, and quizzes with virtual and in-person sessions. It includes two in-person training days focused on lectures, vehicle belt systems, and child safety seat skills assessments. The course concludes with a community car seat check event.

This course will certify students as CPS Technicians. This delivery format is NOT POST APPROVED at this time. It will provide them with the opportunity to apply basic technical skills and knowledge for correct installation and use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts.  It will equip the student to educate caregivers:

  • In proper selection, installation, and use of car and booster seats and know when to move to seat belts once booster seats are outgrown.
  • So they can confidently install/reinstall car/booster seats.
  • Enable you to be a resource in your communities.

Internet access is required for completion of online learning modules, online communication platform, and video conferencing. Video capabilities are required. Students must provide vehicles and car seats for self-directed activities.
Technician Candidates will receive a hard copy of the Technician Guide prior to the the first virtual session.
