TENNESSEE HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE ANNOUNCES “100 DAYS OF SUMMER HEAT” CAMPAIGN

Tennessee Highway Patrol joins Local Law Enforcement to Increase Traffic Enforcement this Summer

 

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – On Tuesday, May 13, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol, divisions of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, will host a press event with local law enforcement to announce “100 Days of Summer Heat.” The purpose of this campaign is to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities across East Tennessee during the summer months. Participating agencies will collaborate for multi-jurisdictional initiatives, like sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, to increase drunk-driving enforcement and crack down on other dangerous driving behaviors. Increased enforcement will take place in Sullivan County, Johnson County, Claiborne County, Unicoi County, and other locations. During the press event, speakers will discuss traffic crash data and offer safety tips to help spread awareness and improve driver behavior.
