Bio: Justin is the survivor of a motorcycle accident involving a head on collision with an S.U.V. He broke both bones in both arms, crushed both hands, right wrist, back, dislocated both hips, broken right hip, crushed both pelvises, right knee was completely reconstructed, as well as several other internal injuries. It took seventy-eight screws, thirteen plates, twenty-five units of blood and a little over four hundred stitches and staples to piece him back together. When Justin woke up in the ICU he was told that he would never walk again or have full use of his hands. He has had physical pain every day for the past ten years and still has drop foot, but that doesn’t keep him from doing anything that he wants to do.

In the years following his accident he struggled with severe depression and suicidal thoughts. During his recovery he gained a little over a hundred pounds and was very overweight. Piece by piece, step by step Justin put his life back together. It took him several years to walk, a little more to jog and now he goes on five mile runs several days a week. He lost the extra weight, goes to the gym five days a week and is now in the best shape of his life. He has made his sole purpose in his life to be proof that nothing is impossible. To in some way, no matter how big or small, represent hope for someone who has lost theirs or to at least be proof, that if you’re willing to fight, whatever you want in life is possible. He is all too familiar with loss in his life, from his accident taking his hopes of playing college sports, to losing friends and family members to cancer, accidents under the influence, his best friend in a motorcycle accident the year following his, as well as several friends to suicide.

Justin was an aspiring musician who appeared on NBC’s The Voice and has played shows all over the country as well as outside of the country. With a shift in perception Justin is now an author, speaker and the owner of Chainge Fitness and BNB Apparel Co. He works with people to help them get their lives together. He understands the struggle, he knows first-hand how hard life can be and what it is like to have to fight every day of your life. His mission is to help as many people as he can become the best versions of themselves and to help them learn how to fight before they learn that they have to. When it comes to his “why” Justin said this, “Someone can look at me and have no idea that I ever went through what I did physically, which was so evident not too long ago just by looking at me, I have the scars to prove it. They would never know that I was over a hundred pounds overweight, in pain every day or spent months in a wheelchair. The truth is, that wasn’t the hard part, it was what happened inside of myself, in my mind, my heart and my soul. We can look around at everyone in this world, but we will never see what it is that they’re going through in their lives or how hard they are struggling on the inside, it just can’t be seen. Trauma happens to everyone, not just the ones that are laying in the hospital. Today in this moment, maybe we aren’t strong enough to fight the battle in our life, but one day we could be if we are willing to put in the work to become that person. When you suffer you feel as if you’re the only one, like you’re all alone. We all suffer, we are all in pain in one way or another. People need to know that they aren’t alone, that there is hope, that life can be okay, but it is up to them to take the steps in order to assure that it is. I’m willing to do whatever it takes, pay whatever the price is, to help as many people as I can see that for themselves and I will die trying. ”
