Charged with increasing public awareness of highway safety issues, the Special Programs Unit conducts a wide range of activities aimed at saving lives and reducing injuries on Tennessee roadways. Knowledgeable about numerous traffic safety topics and techniques, safety education lieutenants in each THP district are assigned to the Special Programs Unit to meet with schools, civic organizations, businesses, and others to improve highway safety throughout the state.
