Tennessee Highway Safety Office joins Rutherford County to Promote Teen Driver Safety at Oakland High School

TENNESSEE HIGHWAY SAFETY OFFICE JOINS RUTHERFORD COUNTY TO PROMOTE TEEN DRIVER SAFETY AT OAKLAND HIGH SCHOOL
 
RUTHERFORD COUNTY – On Thursday, November 18, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office joins the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the Murfreesboro Police Department, and other traffic safety partners for a teen driver safety press event at Oakland High School. The purpose of this event is to spread awareness, increase education, and deter speeding and aggressive behaviors among teen drivers in Rutherford County. According to Tennessee’s Integrated Traffic Analysis Network, there were 847 traffic crashes from 2016 to 2021 involving speeding teen drivers (age 13 to 19). Six of those crashes were fatal.
